David Pakenham

installation/rigging designer

David Pakenham is a lover of many arts, and is grateful to have had the privilege of being able to pursue the ones which bring him the most reward and joy. Having grown up in New Paltz, NY, home of the “Gunks”, he has had the opportunity to learn, train, climb and guide with some of the best and most fierce athletes. David has had the honor of teaching and dancing with the Vanaver Caravan for over ten years and continues to do so. With them he has developed balance and form through modern dance and ballet, has enriched his mind and spirit with rituals, dances and cultures from all over the world, and has strengthened his connection to our natural rhythms with Capoera, Appalachian clogging and percussive dances from every continent.

David’s worlds were able to collide in the creating of AiRealistic. With this team he hopes to raise the bar of interpretive forms of aerial dance and theatre and to challenge audiences to see beyond our previous bubbles of reality. There are two kinds of people, those whose dream it is to fly and those who pursue their dreams… Of course there is also the third and most lucky group… the ones who come into contact with AiRealistic and do both. The capacity in which we fly depends on our willingness to believe that our dreams can come true. Lets Duu Eet!
